How hard is it to get hired in regional airlines?

I'm just curious. Is it hard to get in to regional airlines as pilot? Or is it easy, like everyone can do it?

Is the competition really hard among candidates who want to be a pilot in regional airlines? Or very easy???


I'm talking about recently.
Please answer if you were once hired from regional airlines

I am not asking about right now. I am saying "when economy is NOT BAD"

Right now, any airline is tough to get into. Airlines laid off thousands of pilots within the past month or two because of the economy. Whether it's regional or not, you're going to have a hard time probably for the next 1, maybe 2 or 3 years, until the economy gets better. Lets hope gas prices don't go up again, because that would cause even more lay offs and turmoil.
