Loaded with information on the design of work systems, workplaces, and workstations as well as human anthropometics, Ergonomics for Beginners: A Quick Reference Guide, Third Edition provides a useful quick reference and valuable tool for novices and experienced professionals alike. Understand the Utility and Limitations of Modern Technology

In their trademark, eloquent style, the authors explain the application of a human-centered approach to the design, testing, and evaluation of work systems by considering the interrelated set of physical, cognitive, social, organizational, and other relevant human factors. Their elemental, but comprehensive, treatment of the subject matter provides an authoritative and archival reference of basic theoretical and practical knowledge that will help enhance human performance and reduce the undesirable effects and unintended consequences of many human interactions with technology and the organizational environment. Small enough to carry along to work sites, with simple and clear illustrations, the book examines how to improve performance and reduce the undesirable effects and unintended consequences of many human interactions with technology and the work environment.

My September Issue

Barnes and Noble, cold afternoon, ending of my travel. Just by chance I can attend to a presentation of the September Issue DVDs and there I sketch the amazing Grace Coddington and the flamboyant André Leon Talley, both from Vogue.

Trembling, I heard the most wonderful words from them as they discovered my drawing.

During the 75th anniversary year of the repeal of Prohibition, an emerging generation of Indiana craft beer brewers sat down with their friend and fellow beer aficionado Rita T. Kohn for in-depth interviews on the trials and tribulations of pursuing their passion. The result is a fascinating social history of the growth of handcrafted beer within the state. True Brew vibrantly details the brewers' journey in the creation and sharing of their brews. Continuity, interconnectedness, and civic concern are themes that permeate their stories, but readers may be surprised by the brewers' strong advocacy for restoring buildings, invigorating neighborhoods, and practicing sustainability. Join Kohn, Indiana's leading brew masters, and a burgeoning crop of homebrewers as they reflect on the historical, cultural, social, and economic contributions made to Indiana by one of the world's oldest beverages.

All of Regency London knows that no Cynster male would ever walk away from a lady in distress...but their protection can come at a tantalizingly high price. And now, Stephanie Laurens has created her boldest Cynster yet--Gabriel--a man who has known the pleasure of many women, but who has given his heart to no one.

She was desperate for his help...

When a mysterious lady, her face hidden by a black veil, begs Gabriel Cynster for his help, he cannot refuse her plea. For despite her disguise, Gabriel finds the woman alluring and he is powerless to deny her. But he exacts payment as only a Cynster would demand: with each piece of information he uncovers, she must pay him--in the form of a kiss.

He was powerlerss to resist...

Lady Alathea Morwellan knows Gabriel is intrigued, but despite the sparks that fly between them, they have never passed a civil moment together. Yet as the stakes get higher, so does Gabriel's desire for payment. And with each overpowering kiss, each passionate embrace, Alathea knows that she will not be able to resist his ultimate seduction...but what will happen when she reveals the truth?

Setting: Regency England

Sensuality: 8

Althea Morwellan needs Gabriel Cynster's help to save her family's fortune from an unscrupulous con artist, but the beauty is determined to keep her family's precarious financial state a secret. Althea and Gabriel played together as children on neighboring estates and she knows him very, very well. Aware that he can't resist a challenge, she conceals her identity behind a heavy black veil, pretending to be a mysterious, widowed countess. Intrigued, Gabriel agrees to help her, both because of her plea for help and because the beautiful mystery woman represents a personal challenge that he finds irresistible. Althea extracts a promise from Gabriel that he will not attempt to discover her identity and will not remove her veil.

Althea has loved Gabriel since they were children, but their relationship deteriorated over time. As adults, the two strike verbal sparks from each other at every meeting. Because of their barely polite truce, Althea is unprepared for Gabriel's wild attraction to her countess persona and she falls more deeply in love with him. Gabriel hasn't a clue that the mysterious veiled countess is really Althea, for the lady adamantly refuses to remove her veil. He finds himself charmed and seduced by the countess while frustrated beyond belief that she won't reveal her identity. For Althea, the pressure of maintaining her disguise is great and one evening, she makes a fatal slip. The ensuing confrontation with Gabriel turns both of their worlds topsy-turvy and complicates solving the mystery of her family fortune.

In this latest of the Cynster family novels, Stephanie Laurens combines a mystery plot with a deeply sensual love story. There is something very intriguing about a hero and heroine who believe they know each other well, yet see each other in a very different light when they come together as intimate strangers. As always, the supporting cast of characters is charming and includes the growing numbers of the Cynster clan. A Secret Love is a riveting novel from first page to last. --Lois Faye Dyer

An Economic Interpretation of the Constitution of the United States

General Books publication date: 2009 Original publication date: 1921 Original Publisher: Macmillan Subjects: United States Constitutional history History / United States / General Law / Constitutional Political Science / Constitutions Notes: This is a black and white OCR reprint of the original. It has no illustrations and there may be typos or missing text. When you buy the General Books edition of this book you get free trial access to Million-Books.com where you can select from more than a million books for free. Excerpt: CHAPTER II A SURVEY OF ECONOMIC INTERESTS IN 1787 The whole theory of the economic interpretation of history rests upon the concept that social progress in general is the result of contending interests in society -- some favorable, others opposed, to change. On this hypothesis, we are required to discover at the very outset of the present study what classes and social groups existed in the United States just previous to the adoption of the Constitution and which of them, from the nature of their property, might have expected to benefit immediately and definitely by the overthrow of the old system and the establishment of the new. On the other hand, it must be discovered which of them might have expected more beneficial immediate results, on the whole, from the maintenance of the existing legal arrangements. The importance of a survey of the distribution of property in 1787 for economic as well as political history is so evident that it is strange that no attempt has been made to undertake it on a large scale. Not even a beginning has been made. It is, therefore, necessary for us to rely for the present upon the general statements of historians who have written more or less at length about the period under consideration; but in the meanwhile it can do no harm to suggest, by way of a preface, the outlines of such a survey and some of the chief sources of information. I. In the first place, there were the broad interests of real prope...

Question by Steph:

What is the oldest reference of the dead coming back to life?

The term "Undead" wasn't even created until late 1800's in Dracula. But we all should know that there have been references to the undead long before that. Egyptians? The Bible? Tribal indians? Cave paintings? What is the absolute oldest reference to the dead coming back to life?

I love night time rocket and space shuttle launches. I have tried about 5 times in a row now to get this shot at this location. You can look at my photostreem for a few other attempts. Each of which was a scrubbed launch. I waited through a total of 1 hour and 5 minutes of delays for the launch this morning, which was the second launch attempt for this rocket. Great shot, and yes, I am the photographer and I am sitting on the bench in this picture... No photoshop work here, check my blog to see how I did this, I'll also be posing a video soon.
