What type of wood works best for burning images into wood? I used a pine board to test it out but noticed there were all kinds of lines in my finished picture.

The more detail you want, go with a harder wood. Use a wood with little to no grain. The grain caused your lines.

It explains different woods. Best to experiment to find what you like best. Some wood grains/knots can enhance your work.
